Welcome Baby Jane

Saturday started as a normal Saturday. We got up and did yardwork, Adam mowing the lawn, and Kathleen and Lena pulling weeds and filling out the flower bed with some dirt and mulch. Kathleen and Lena also went out in the afternoon shopping.

But later in the evening Kathleen could not feel the baby moving and called the nurse. Because of losing Little Adam, Kathleen is deemed high risk and was brought in for some tests on the baby. After a few tests, the doctor decided it was best to bring the baby out, and they quickly performed an emergency c-section. After going to hospital around 6pm, our new daughter was born at 9:01 pm, 10 weeks premature

Introducing Jane Ethlene Mangum. She weighed in at 2 lbs. and 13 oz., and measured at 15 1/4 in. Both Jane and Kathleen are doing well. Kathleen is recovering from the surgery and was up and around today (Sunday); Jane is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and will likely be there for weeks to come. But she's doing well and all signs are that she will grow and develop normally.

Here is Lena meeting Jane for the first time, with Dad looking on.

Jane is hooked up to about 12 different things at once, which is completely normal. She's getting food from a tube, and is getting a little help with oxygen. As you can see, even at 30 weeks, she still has a lot of hair.

That looks like an adult hand, but it's actually Lena's hand touching Jane's little foot.

Kathleen enjoying some time with her newest daughter.

We appreciate all the prayers on our behalf, and would encourage more to help Baby Jane continue to grow quickly.

Welcome Jane! We love you!
