Memorable Days

As Kathleen mentioned in an earlier post, my parents came up from Houston for an extended Memorial Day weekend. It was their first time seeing Clare, and since they hadn't seen Lena since July of last year, being with her was like a new experience as well.

We did a lot of fun things, including going to the NEW Zoo outside of Green Bay, eating out, playing Rook, and just sitting around and talking. (Oh yeah, we watched a lot of NBA playoff basketball and Red Sox baseball.) Here are some of our adventures.

On Memorial Day, we hit the zoo on a lovely afternoon.

Dad and Lena on the carousel. Lena was riding a deer, and I was riding an ostrich.

Near the entrance of the zoo, we ran into a peacock. Lena was very impressed by his colorful display.

The zoo allows you to get personal with the giraffes. Lena fed her two crackers. How do I know it was a her? Because Lena insisted.

Lena, Mom, Clare and Dad looking at the porcupine.

One day while eating breakfast, my Mom (aka Mimi) snapped a cute picture of Clare, who's smiling and 'talking' more and more each day.

We took some group pictures. Here's Mimi with Clare, and Dede with Lena.

Lena, Dede and Clare. Lena followed Dede around most of the week.

The two, blue-eyes sisters.

We had so much fun with Mimi and Dede. Lena has been asking for them almost every day since they left, and playing games with us that Dede taught her. We're so grateful for all of our wonderful family, and can't wait to see everyone soon.

I was going to say the giraffe was a boy since it scarfed down TWO crackers, but Lena is most likely right. (why do kids always have to be so darn smart?!!!)

That happy picture of Clare is awesome! It looks like she is pointing a finger at the camera and winking. ha ha!
Cute pictures! we will have to check out that zoo some time.
