| Clare excited by her My Little Pony birthday cake. |
It's hard to believe that Clare is already 4 years old. To all that know her, she's a bundle of energy, fueled primarily by cold cereal. She's loud, passionate, and fun. And this post celebrates everything about Clare.
What She Loves to Do
Clare loves to play, and that play is usually all in her head. She can get lost for a long time in stories and games that only she sees. Though she loves to play with Lena and Jane, she seems happiest wondering around the house, lost in her own world.
Clare is a modern girl. She loves both My Little Pony and Batman. Her biggest wish for Christmas was a Batcave, and she also got a Batmobile for her birthday. But she also loves My Little Pony, and plays with her ponies a lot. She got a My Little Pony castle and some more ponies for her birthday as well.
A memory like no other...
When driving around town, Kathleen often plays kids books on tape. Clare loves this, and her memory is so good that she gets the books close to memorized after only a few times listening. She can often be heard reciting parts of the books quietly to herself as part of her imaginative play. It's also expanded her vocabulary, as she might surprise with phrases like "rain-slicked streets."
Not as picky an eater...
Clare has been our most picky eater, much to her parents' frustration. But that's breaking down recently. On her birthday she ate a chocolate donut (she always wanted white icing before, or no icing) and ate grape tomatoes like they were grapes. Her food choices as expanding.
Never-ending energy
Not that this is atypical for kids her age, but this kid can seemingly go forever as long as she's got some food in her belly.
I'm so excited...
Clare is passionate. When she's excited, she's really excited. Last night after we opened presents, she was bouncing around so much it was almost impossible to take a picture of her. And when she's upset? Well, watch out. She has one of the loudest voices in all creation, and she can fill a house, church, or restaurant with a scream in .0001 seconds.
Other fun facts about Clare
- She is in a preschool class with almost all boys. This doesn't phase her a bit.
- She loves older boys. I know, we're in trouble. She followed her 8-year-old cousin Max around last week when we visited his family in Indiana, and she told one of our boy babysitters that she loved him.
- She wants to do anything Lena is doing, and she thinks she can.
- She has her Dad's imagination and dark hair, but her mother's passion and soft heart.
We love you Clare. Happy birthday to you!
