Halloween in the Land of Oz

Continuing our family costume theme for the third year in a row, here's the result:

That's Clare as the Wicked Witch of the West, Hannah as the Cowardly Lion, Kathleen as the Tinwoman, Lena as Dorothy, Adam as Scarecrow, and Jane as Glenda.

But things got crazy at the church trunk-or-treat when the Scarecrow found a lightsaber. His path would never be the same again.

Lena carving a pumpkin on her own.
Kathleen leading the girls in pumpkin carving.
While trick-or-treating on Friday night, we had a fun experience with Clare.

Our next door neighbor Gale really gets into Halloween and does an awesome job decorating her yard and gets dressed up, usually as a witch.

As we approached her door, she opened it, revealing her scary witch self. It took Jane a few moments to figure out it was Gale.

"Hello, sister," Gale said to Clare, who was also dressed as a witch.

"You're not my sister," Clare responded.

Dad tried to explain. "Sometimes witches called each other sisters, and you're both dressed as witches."

Clare thought about it for a moment, then said: "That still doesn't make her my sister."
