"I'm not Clare; I'm Clifford the Big Red Dog." Clare likes to pretend she's someone else. Often, it's fictional characters, like Lightning McQueen or Clifford the Big Red Dog. She almost pretends to be real people, like Lena's best friend from Wisconsin, Lucy. When she's in this mode of pretending to be someone else, she will often only answer to the pretend person's name. She also wants others to play along. For example, when she's Lightning McQueen, Dad if often Mater (complete with Larry the Cable Guy accent) and Mom is Mack.
"That's my sister!" Clare is the defender of her sisters. Whether that's threatening other toddlers who push Jane, or chastising Mom and Dad for putting Lena in timeout, Clare will defend her sisters.
"Vrooooom! Vroooooom!" Clare loves the movie Cars and its cleverly titled sequel, Cars 2. As mentioned above, she often pretends to be Lightning McQueen, and will run around the house making car sounds, heading to California for the big race, and trying to smooze Dinoco.
"Let's play tackle, Daddy!" Clare loves to wrestle with Dad, and she can take him down pretty easily.
"I want to do my letters." She enjoys practicing her letters, and can already recognize most of the alphabet.
"How old is she again?" We're often asked if Clare is really just 2 (now 3) because she speaks in full sentences and uses large words in the right context. She also has a great memory, and can often remember the names of kids she's met just once. And her verbal skills are only matched by her unbelievable ability to be one of the loudest human beings on the planet.
We love our little Clare, the sweetest, loudest, funnest 3-year-old "in the whole wide world!"
