We spent last week in Palm Desert, Calif., which is about 20 minutes from Palm Springs, and 2+ hours west of Los Angeles. Kathleen's parents have a time share that Kathleen and Adam had visited before, but this was the first time for Lena and Clare. Common activities included swimming at the pool, playing outside on the deck, and playing games. It was a great time.
On one, cooler day we visited a local zoo and had a great time (except for Lena getting sand in her sandals all day).

From left to right, Adam, Kathleen, Grammy (Kathleen's mom) and Clare checking out the giraffes.

Time No. 3 of 857 of Lena asking to get sand out of her sandals.

Though you can't really tell in this picture, this is a 3-week old baby giraffe.

Clare spent most of the day in her stroller. She is eating graham fish off her stomach.

We tried to get Clare to wear a hat to keep the sun off her face. Clare wasn't a big fan of the hat. What a cute little girl.

Adam and Clare on the carousel. Clare refused to get on the camel (or any other animal).
