Lena Milestones

It's been a big summer for the entire family, especially for Lena.

The first big milestone was Lena's 5th birthday on Aug. 24th. She had just driven from Utah to Minnesota with our friend Megan and her daughter Lucy. We celebrated with dinner and opening some presents.

As if that's not enough, Lena started school the day after Labor Day. She started kindergarten at Valley Crossing Community School here in Woodbury. Her class consists of both kindergartners and first graders.

Here she is on the first day of school showing off her favorite dress and her backpack. Pretty crazy to have her at school all day. It's been a tough transition for everyone: Lena getting used to going to school all day, every day; Clare and Jane missing their big sister; and Mom and Dad letting go of their little girl.

Her favorite part of school seems to be lunch and recess (go figure). She's also loving music and making new friends.

And for a girl who used to be so small (and she's still as skinny as can be), she's tall for her age and can run really fast. She's also started ballet again, and will be part of Ballet Minnesota's production of The Nutcracker as a mouse.

Can't you sit on her or something. Just tell her to stop growing up so fast!!
